Moroka Swallows unveil former AmaZulu and Chiefs midfielder

Moroka Swallows have unveiled a former AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season.

The Dube Birds have completed the signing of Dumisani Zuma, who joins the Soweto giants from Usuthu.

Swallows confirmed the news on Thursday, 20 July putting an end to speculations over the future of the 28-year-old footballer. 

Zuma is one of the many signings by Maswaiswai in this transfer window period after the acquisition of Daweron Van Rhyn, Lantshene Phalane and Andile Jali from Upington City, Royal AM and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.

They have also acquired the services of Victor Bakah and Falakhe Tshanini, both from Uthongathi FC. Keenan Phillips from SuperSport United.

Swallows seem not to be done to bolster their squad, as they are currently in talks with Orlando Pirates for the services of Tshegofatso Mabasa and Bongani Sam.

The signing of Zuma by Swallows will see him reunites with his former coach at Amakhosi, Steve Komphela.

DUMISANI ZUMA’S FOOTBALL CAREER JOURNEY

The Pietermaritzburg-born started his football career at a very young age [11] with an amateur club Grange. He also turned out for other lower-division sides such as Maritzburg City and Kings United. 

His football career blossomed when he joined Bloemfontein Celtic in the 2014/2015 campaign from the amateur side Kings United. 

Zuma was an instant hit in the Siwelele team which saw him  earning 20 league appearances and found the back of the net on one occasion in his first campaign at the club.

His stellar performances during his three-year stay at Celtic saw him join the Soweto giants, Chiefs in 2017. He joined Amakhosi on a three-year deal. 

During his stay at the Glamour Boys, he made 103 appearances, weighed in with 11 assists, and scored 13 goals in the process. 

Zuma also represented South Africa in the junior ranks at under-20 and under-23 levels.

He went on to make his debut for the senior team during their 1-0 win over Botswana in the African Nations Championship qualifiers in 2017. 

Zuma is one player who will be expected to add the much-needed value to Swallows’ squad when the new campaign roars to life.
