Khune: ‘Ntseki has our full support’
Veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has thrown his weight behind newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki, saying that he has the full support of the team.
Khune, who is Chiefs’ captain, seems to have been impressed with Ntseki’s work ethic and his attention to detail.
The former Bafana Bafana coach was thrust into the Chiefs hot seat after the club failed to reach an agreement with former Young Africans coach Nassredine Nabi.
He has been preparing the team for the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season. Ntseki is currently with his Amakhosi charges in Dar es Salaam where they play Young Africans SC in an international friendly on Saturday.
The responsibility to turn around the club’s fortunes is squarely on Ntseki’s shoulders after an eight-year trophy drought at Naturena.
“There were rumours that he [Mohammed Nassredine Nabi] was coming to Kaizer Chiefs, so I don’t know what happened,” Itumeleng Khune told Dar24.
“But we have a new coach [Ntseki] so we are looking forward to the match. “I heard about it [the Nabi rumours], I read about it, but things didn’t go according to plan. But we’re happy with the head coach we have, and we will give him the full support he deserves.”

The longest-serving Chiefs player also backed new acquisition Ranga Chivaviro to shine in the black and gold strip.
“He’s a great striker. He even scored against us last season at FNB Stadium. Hence the club approached him for his signature. That’s why he’s here at Kaizer Chiefs now. He’s a great striker, we wish him well. We want to see him score more goals.
“Any team in SA was looking to sign him, but he chose Kaizer Chiefs because Kaizer Chiefs is a big club. I know he’s going to make a good impact and win us games and score goals for us.”
After the Yanga tie, the Soweto giants wind up their pre-season preparations with a match against Botswana’s Township Rollers.
The Rollers encounter is set for Gaborone on the 29th of July, 2023. They kick off their season with a tie against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 5 August 2023.
