Four DStv Prem teams to host 2023/24 matches in Polokwane
Despite Limpopo having two DStv premiership clubs for the upcoming season, FARPost can reveal that four teams will host their matches at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup stadium is home to Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City. The Polokwane Municipality also entered into a three-year agreement with PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs last season.
This publication can now also confirm that SuperSport United is another club that will be playing some of their home matches in Limpopo. The Municipality and Matsatsantsa have been negotiating for some time now.
The Tshwane side was expected to take matches to Polokwane but ended up opting for the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace last season.
MORE DSTV PREMIERSHIP MATCHES AT PETER MOKABA STADIUM
FARPost has gathered that despite the official fixture list released by the PSL on Thursday indicating that SuperSport will host Richards Bay at Lucas Moripe Stadium, the match might take place at New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
In fact, SuperSport United could end up hosting not less than seven matches at the stadium named after the late South African politician Peter Mokaba.
KAIZER CHIEFS TO CONTINUE IN LIMPOPO
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are expected to take at least three matches to Polokwane. They will host Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium in the opening weekend of the season. It is speculated that the matches they will play in Polokwane are against TS Galaxy, AmaZulu and SuperSport United.
Sekhukhune United will play all their 15 home matches and Cup fixtures at the venue. Newly promoted Polokwane City will play some of their fixtures at the precinct. But they will host most of their matches at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Surprisingly, they have opted to play their home fixture against Kaizer Chiefs at the Old Stadium. The facility has less capacity than the new one.
