Maduka on whether Royal AM have signed Nkanyiso Zungu and Co.

Royal AM head coach John Maduka has explained whether they have signed the new faces that appeared in the KZN Premier’s Cup including Nkanyiso Zungu.

Thwihli Thwahla was part of the KZN province’s tournament that took place in Durban between 22 and 23 July. They crashed out of the tournament in the quarterfinals at the hands of AmaZulu FC.

Royal AM had more than three new faces in the team including the players from their DStv Diski Challenge side.

The most notable one was of the former Orlando Pirates midfielder Nkanyiso Zungu who’s been training with the team since parting ways with the Soweto giants. He spent the last season on loan at Richards Bay FC before the end of his contract at Pirates.

Meanwhile, the former Marumo Gallants man Sibusiso Sibeko and Eswatini international Mxolisi Mkhonto who’ve been under assessment at the club also got the run.

Maduka said there was no “trialist” in the team that played against Usuthu, reiterating that they are part of the club.

“Most of the players you saw there playing, some of them are coming from our [DStv] Diski Challenge Team,” said Maduka.

“We don’t have any trialists there, all of them, they are part of the team. And that’s why you saw them today.”

When asked to clarify whether they have wrapped up the deals with players, he then said, “We’ll unveil them.”

Meanwhile, Royal AM’s ability to sign players has been questioned, with the club still reportedly trying to resolve their FIFA transfer ban issues.

The KZN outfit has lost Tebogo Potsane, who recently signed for Kaizer Chiefs. AM have also let go of Ricardo Nascimento, Lantshene Phalane and Tshepo Rikhotso.

Phalane has made a return to Moroka Swallows, whom he played for before he joined Bloemfontein Celtic, who later sold their status to Royal AM. And reports have pointed Rikhotso at his home province club Sekhukhune United.
