What Mamelodi Sundowns told Etiosa Ighodaro
Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Etiosa Ighodaro has revealed what the club said to him before his move to SuperSport United.
The 22-year-old has joined Matsatsantsa on a season-long loan from their neighbours, Sundowns.
Ighodaro had a superb season at Chippa United where he was also on loan. The Nigerian striker netted 11 goals in all competitions.
But besides the impressive showing, Ighodaro has failed to secure a place at his parent club this season.
WHAT MAMELODI SUNDOWNS COACH RULANI MOKWENA SAID
“He [Rulani Mokwena] just told me that I should just try one more time,” Ighodaro told the media at the team’s pre-season camp in Durban.
“To try one more time then after this, I will be back home. So just this move, then there is an opportunity [to go back].
“It’s not about [doing] enough. It’s about readiness. I don’t know, maybe they think I am not ready. They gave me another loan, so I think after this [SuperSport United loan]. I think I will be ready enough,” he said.
ETIOSA IGHODARO SECURE ANOTHER LOAN MOVE
Ighodaro also spent a season on loan at Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria in 2021/22.
“It’s not my decision [to be loaned], but I would really appreciate going there and playing for the jersey because it’s one of my dreams. If an opportunity is given to me, I would handle it properly and do what I am supposed to do.
He says he looks forward to spending a season with SuperSport United and promises more goals.
“I am really happy, and the environment is nice. So I am happy to be here, and I am looking forward to playing in the jersey and competing. I want to score, it’s my duty, and I have to take my opportunity and work harder than I did last season.”
