Agent issues worrying update about a former Pirates attacker
The agent of a former Orlando Pirates attacker has issued a worrying update about his client, who has been clubless for over a year after leaving the DStv Premiership.
Speedy winger Kudakwashe Mahachi has been unattached since his contract with SuperSport United was terminated in June 2022.
At that time, he was facing serious charges in Zimbabwe, although he was later acquitted.
Several attempts by the former Orlando Pirates attacker to bounce back into the DStv Premiership have hit a snag.
Early this year, Mahachi trained with Maritzburg United with the hope of completing a move, but it failed.
Highlanders of Zimbabwe were also interested in luring the 29-year-old, but they later invested their energies in Obriel Chirinda from Bulawayo Chiefs.
Even a trial stint at a Gibraltar professional football team, FCB Magpies did not produce good results.
WHAT THE AGENT SAID
“We have no offer at the moment. Nothing at all. He is training on his own. It’s worrying on our part because it’s not easy,” said Gibson Mahachi.
“Of course, we remain hopeful, but the time of being without a club has been too long.”
Nkembe, as Mahachi is fondly known, moved to the DStv Premiership during the 2014/2015 season.
He was signed by the trailblazing Mamelodi Sundowns from Chicken Inn after helping the latter win the Zimbabwean title in 2015.
But before making the switch to Masandawana, Mahachi spent a few months at Highlanders on loan.
After finally switching to the DStv Premiership, the former Orlando Pirates attacker was sent on loan at Golden Arrows.
He completed a permanent move to the Durban-based side in 2016. After one and a half years at Arrows, he moved to Orlando Pirates.
Having been a decent performer for the Buccaneers, the former speedy winger signed for SuperSport United in 2019.
