Lehlohonolo Seema resurfaces at DStv Premiership side

Former Chippa United and Golden Arrows coach Lehlohonolo Seema has resurfaced at a DStv Premiership side.

Seema, who saved Chippa United from relegation last season, has been brought in to bolster the Polokwane City technical bench.

He took over the Chilli Boys towards the end of last season when they were in a precarious position, and he steered them out of the murky waters of relegation.

After saving the Eastern Cape side, he parted ways with them and will work with the club’s head coach, Duncan Lechesa, the man who guided City back to the topflight.

Rise and Shine also have Phuti Mohafe who is the assistant to Lechesa and continues serving in that position.

The 43-year-old Seema is a former professional footballer who played for teams such as Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates.

He began his coaching career in 2013 at Celtic, where his focus was scouting and has gone on to hold head coaching positions at Chippa, Arrows, and Black Leopards.

“We had him introduced to the players today. Obviously, going to the DStv Premiership needs a bit of experience, and that’s where he comes in to work with the head coach Lechesa and his assistant Mohafe,” a club source told FARPost.

Seema is a highly experienced coach known for his attacking style of play and his ability to get the best out of young players.

The former Lesotho national team captain could prove to be a valuable asset to the Polokwane-based side. The club has signed eight players so far ahead of the new season.

They include Given Mashikinya, Sinoxola Kwayiba, Tlou Nkwe, Oswin Appollis and Nyakalo Raphadu from Pretoria Callies, Kgotsofalo Mabu and Francious Baloyi from Dondol Stars.

Exciting playmaker Luciano van Heerden also joined them from Baroka FC and has sparkled in pre-season matches.

Mpho Makola and Joseph Mhlongo left the club before the start of the pre-season. They will be hoping to maintain their status in the DStv Premiership.
