PSL club signs Moeneeb Josephs’ goalkeeper son

Moeneeb Josephs’ son, Niyaaz, is following in his dad’s footsteps after signing for a PSL club as a goalkeeper.

The 23-year-old joins La Masia from ABC Motsepe side Hanover Park FC, where he spent the last two years.

Josephs had two good seasons in Park’s colours as they enjoyed a fairytale promotion to the second division. They almost qualified for the Motsepe Foundation Championship, missing out on the final day.

A DOOR OPENS FOR MOENEEB JOSEPHS’ SON

Before this, he spent some time in the Bidvest Wits youth structures between 2015 and 2017 but came back home to run out for Ikapa Sporting and Cape Town Hotspurs in the ABC Motsepe League too.

“I was actually worried about the Football Project. I went on the trial and made the shortlist but didn’t get any feedback due to miscommunication. But Alhamdulillah another door has opened,” Josephs told FARPost

In the next passage, young Josephs reveals La Masia as the PSL club he’ll be joining.

“I got a call from my dad that La Masia was interested in giving me a trial. All praise is due to Allah, everything went well, Alhamdulillah.

MORE LIFE ADVICE THAN FOOTBALL

“For me, this deal is only the beginning of my journey. The hard work starts now. But where life is concerned, it’s given me the opportunity to broaden my experience and continue to learn through everything put in front of me from here on. I am really excited for the next chapter.

“My dad couldn’t be more proud because, as he said, everything I achieved up until now was all by myself. All I can do is appreciate every moment.

“He has given me advice, but more life advice than football. He wants to make sure he doesn’t overshadow me. And also to make my own name without him being the focal point of my football career. I’m told that It will be a one-year deal.”
