Bafana talisman Bongokuhle Hlongwane hits another brace in MLS

Bafana Bafana forward Bongokuhle Hlongwane is slowly becoming a goal machine in the lucrative Major League Soccer [MLS] in the USA.

Bongi Hlongwane has continued with his relentless push to uplift himself in the MLS side, Minnesota United.

The highly-rated and skilled attacker notched a brace for Minnesota United, albeit on a losing cause against Chicago Fire on Friday morning at the Allianz Field in St. Paul.

The ex-Martizburg United hitman scored his two goals in 11 minutes as Minnesota lost 3-2 at home in the MLS League Cup.

HOW HLONGWANE PERFORMED AGAINST THE CHICAGO FIRE

For Minnesota United, Hlongwane has now scored twelve goals and provided eight assists since joining the club.

And he is slowly becoming the club’s reliable goal-getter, having declared that he wants to set a marker in the Major League Soccer.

However, his goals were not enough to lift Minnesota United, despite putting in a good shift to salvage a point.

Chicago Fire FC collected maximum points courtesy of second-half goals by Xherdan Shaqiri, Arnaud Souquet and Kei Ansu Kamara.

The former Liverpool star, Shaqiri, scored a penalty in the 69th minute, with Souquet doubling their scores ten minutes later.

Kamara then sealed their hard-fought win after 83 minutes, and they held on to grab the all-important win.

On Monday, Hlongwane hit another brace when Minnesota United beat Puebla 4-0 in a League Cup match.

The Bafana Bafana forward and Emanuel Reynoso scored a brace each as Minnesota secured a famous win.

In that match, Hlongwane also assisted one of the goals that was scored by Emanuel Reynoso.

Overall, the KwaZulu-Natal-born attacker has featured in 23 games across all competitions for Minnesota this term.
