Agent confirms Mhango’s imminent AmaZulu FC departure amid Chiefs links

Football agent Mike Makaab has confirmed that Gabadinho Mhango is not in AmaZulu FC’s plans amid Kaizer Chiefs transfer links.

AmaZulu striker Gabadinho Mhango is set to leave the club ahead of the new PSL season. He has been deemed surplus to requirements by new head coach Pablo Franco Martin.

This publication reported that Mhango is on his way to Naturena to complete his medical before putting pen to paper.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs’ football manager Bobby Motaung on the weekend in Botswana claimed that the club is in search of a striker.

And although Motaung stated that Mhango is not on Amakhosi’s wishlist, he said that the cub will make an announcement soon.

Mhango, who is also a Orlando Pirates attacker featured in 18 matches for Usuthu last season and scored five goals, while providing two assists.

With the pacey forward seemingly unsettled at the KZN-based side, his agent has given an update on the possible next move.

“There are discussions for him to move away from the club. It doesn’t seem like he’s in the new coach’s [Pablo Franco Martin] plans,” Makaab told Gagasi FM.

“But the club has to respect that he has a contract. We will do everything in our power to ensure that we find a solution.

“It’s important that both the football club and the football player are happy.

“You have to understand that he’s contracted to AmaZulu Football club, he’s not a free agent as we speak.

“So there’s a lot of issues that needs to be dealt with. Again, as is said with [Terrence] Dzvukamanja and with Thamsanqa Gabuza, these things have to be done correctly and in the right manner. We’ll do exactly the right thing with Mhango.”

In addition, Makaab shed light on Mhango’s reported move to Chiefs and admitted that discussions are underway.

“He [Mhango] hasn’t signed for Chiefs, it’s not even close. We have been speaking to a number of clubs.”
