Molefi Ntseki banking on ‘magic’ to turn Chiefs’ fortunes

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki is banking on ‘magic’ to turn the club’s fortunes and bring back glory days.

Ntseki was appointed Chiefs coach ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership. He replaced Arthur Zwane, who was redeployed back to the assistant coach role.

The former Bafana Bafana mentor, Ntseki, has the big task of ending the Amakhosi trophy drought as the Soweto giants last won silverware in the 2014/2015 campaign.

In the previous Premiership season, Chiefs finished fifth on the league table and missed out on qualifying for the CAF interclub competitions.

Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys beefed up their squad with new signing as they look to improve from their disappointing showing in the last few years.

Chiefs signed Ranga Chivaviro, Given Msimango, Thatoyaone Ditlhokwe, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edson Gastillo, Tebogo Potsane and Pule Mmodi.

With Chiefs faithful eagerly waiting to see a change in fortunes in their club, Ntseki has explained what should happen for the fallen giants to be successful.

MOLEFI NTSEKI ON WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO RECLAIM GLORY DAYS FOR CHIEFS

“I think it has to be a Kaizer Chiefs magic. It’s not only about on the pitch or the stadium. It’s about all stakeholders pulling in one direction,” said Ntseki.

“And I think that is what has been happening at the club. The unfortunate part was us not getting the expected results.

“I think in Molefi coming in and the new players coming in, it’s so unfortunate that we’ll always be looked at in terms of what the club failed to achieve in the past.

“So it’s a new chapter for each one of those players in the new season to write their own chapters.

“Chiefs is a club that is supported by a multitude of supporters. Expectations are very high to say that it must be a winning team, and supporters must be proud of our team.

“When results are not coming, everyone becomes disappointed, but I think the most important thing is on the mental side.

“We have the players, so have to be strong mentally. So I think the magic will come from all of us pulling in one direction.

“Our management, players, technical team and every stakeholder of the club, that’s where we’ll see the magic coming in.”
