What attracted Bathusi Aubaas to Sundowns
Newly signed Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bathusi Aubaas has revealed what attracted him to the club ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
Sundowns announced the arrival of the highly-rated Bafana Bafana midfielder from TS Galaxy. Aubaas becomes the fifth signing for Masandawana in the current transfer window.
Amongst players who have joined Sundowns are Junior Mendieta, Lesiba Nku, Lucas Ribeiro Costa and Thapelo Maseko.
The Brazilians clinched their sixth league title last season, but they have set their eyes on the prestigious CAF Champions League.
Sundowns have been falling short in the Champions League Knockout stages since they won the tournament in 2016 under Pitso Mosimane.
In the last season’s Champions League, Sundowns was eliminated in the semi-finals by Wydad Casablanca.
As a result, the Tshwane giants have beefed up their squad to increase their chances of walking away with continental honours.
Meanwhile, Aubaas, who just joined Sundowns, has opened up about what attracted him to the club.
BATHUSI AUBAAS REVEALS HIS AMBITIONS FOR SUNDOWNS
“What attracted me to Sundowns is that they have a winning mentality,” Aubaas said on the club’s social media.
“One thing I want to achieve here in the club, I want to win a lot of titles, I’m not here to relax. I’m here to work, and I’m here to learn.”
In addition, Aubaas received his maiden Bafana call-up a few months ago and produced an outstanding performance against Morroco in the AFCON Qualifiers.
The 28-year-old midfield maestro made 28 appearances in all competitions for Galaxy and contributed two assists.
He will be looking to make his debut for Sundowns when they take of Sekhukhune United on the 4th of August in their opening match league.
