González arrival: Timely boost for Kaizer Chiefs after Chivaviro setback

Kaizer Chiefs new signing, Efmamjjasond González’s arrival, scheduled for Tuesday, could be a timely boost for the club as they deal with an injury to Ranga Chivaviro.

González, whose signing was announced by Chiefs last week, had his visa approved and is set to arrive in Johannesburg this week.

He is expected to link up with his new teammates on Wednesday this week as he starts his PSL career.

GONZÁLEZ ARRIVAL A BOOST FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

The 24-year-old could be handed a chance to impress with Chivaviro a doubt for the next game against AmaZulu FC.

Chiefs created a couple of chances against TS Galaxy on Sunday but could not convert them.

The Colombian could be available for selection for the team’s next DStv Premiership fixture.

He has started 13 league games in the Bolivia Primera Division, scoring eight goals for Real Santa Cruz.

Match sharpness shouldn’t be an issue, although Chiefs’ head coach Molefi Ntseki would be keen to see how he fits into his team.

Having struggled to get goals this season, only managing three in four games, González offers them a fresh option upfront.

The Antioquia-born striker is known for his pace and dribbling skills. He is expected to give Chiefs a much-needed attacking threat.

Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki bemoaned his team’s inability to convert their chances against The Rockets.

CHIEFS SIGNED EIGHT PLAYERS

“It’s unfortunate that the chances we got, we didn’t bury those chances,” Ntseki said.

González is Chiefs’ eighth signing of the season. The club has also signed Chivaviro, Edson Castillo, Pule Mmodi, Tebogo Potsane, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.

Chiefs hope the new signings will help them improve their performance this season. The team finished fifth in the PSL last season.

They will be looking to end their eight-year trophy drought despite a slow start to the season.
