Venda FC rope in Banyana Banyana analyst

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda FC have roped in a Banyana Banyana analyst ahead of the new season.

The club has assembled a new-look technical team led by Joel Masutha assisted by Morgan Shivambu.

This is their third season in the National First Division, and made their intentions of securing automatic promotion clear. Formerly known as Venda Football Academy, the club has now acquired the services of Senior Women’s national team Video Analyst Mpho Maruping.

BBANYANA BANYANA ANALYST JOINS VENDA FC

Maruping was spotted at the club’s training round in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo, on Tuesday.

He was part of the Banyana Banyana squad that achieved a historic milestone at the recently concluded FIFA Women’s World Cup. They were knocked out in the last 16 round by the Netherlands. He was an analyst alongside former Kaizer Chiefs scout Sinesipho Mali.

Maruping was also part of the South Africa squad that won the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in 2022.

The former professional player is no stranger to working with the head coach, Joel Masutha. They worked together at Pretoria Callies during the 2021/22 season.

VENDA FC SEASON OPENER IN THOHOYANDOU

Meanwhile, Venda FC will begin their 2023/24 campaign at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday, 26 August. They will face JDR Stars in one of the three fixtures on the day.

The club recently announced the signing of 18 new players while releasing nine. This includes former Black Leopards and Maritzburg United defender Isaac Masia.

Moeketsi Sekola and Thabiso Nkoana also joined from relegated Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

One of their star performers from last season, Kgothatso Mariba, who secured a move to Sekhukhune United, has also been loaned back to the club.
