Sundowns’ Modiba picks out Polokwane City’s main threats
Mamelodi Sundowns star Aubrey Modiba has identified players from Polokwane City that could be a danger to the Tshwane giants in a league clash on Wednesday.
Sundowns will travel to Peter Mokaba Stadium to face off against an unpredictable Polokwane side.
Rise and Shine are currently fifth on the DStv Premiership log after two wins in four matches. But they are nine points behind the PSL defending champions who have won five out of five.
WHICH PLAYERS CAUGHT AUBREY MODIBA’S ATTENTION
Modiba believes there are players in the Polokwane City side that could pose a serious danger against them.
“They have good players, [Oswin] Appollis, he scored two goals against Cape Town Spurs during the game that they won. The big striker Douglas Mapfumo, he is their target man and can hold the ball well,” said Modiba.
“He scored in their previous game. So we know a few of them, and I think we will do a preview and analyse their weaknesses and strengths. But they have a good team.”
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS WARY OF UNPREDICTABLE POLOKWANE CITY
The Limpopo-born versatile player is also wary of the home fans backing the Polokwane side.
“We are expecting a tough match because every game is tough. They have done well because they are number five on the log, so it shows that they are doing something good.
“We are expecting a difficult game, but we have players who can be able to put in a good performance on the day so that we can be able to collect the points.
“They are playing in their backyard, and their supporters will be cheering for them, but I think we are ready for the game, and we will be able to do well.”
Kick-off for the clash is at 17:00.
