Pirates defender’s future at the club in doubt

One of Orlando Pirates defenders is facing an uncertain future as he awaits the club’s decision after returning from a loan spell.

Pirates have a galaxy of stars in their squad after signing some quality players during the current PSL transfer window.

The Buccaneers signed Siphelo Baloni, Katlego Otladisa, Melusi Buthelezi, Lesedi Kapinga, Patrick Maswanganyi, Lesedi Kapinga, Karim Kimvuidi and Siphamandla Gumede.

They have had an inconsistent start to the new season but look convincing when they play in front of their crowd at the Orlando Stadium.

The Soweto giants have scored a total of nine goals in their two home games against Royal AM and Sekhukhune United.

With Pirates having six centre-backs in their squad, indications are that one of their defenders remains uncertain about his future at the club.

Sesane has been part of Pirates set-up since he returned from loan. He travelled with the whole squad to Spain for a preseason tour.

The highly-rated defender doesn’t appear on the list of the Pirates squad for the 2023/24 season. He may go out on loan before the transfer window slams shut in September.

SESANE FACING STIFF COMPETITION

Furthermore, Sesane faces stiff competition in the centre-back position with Nkosinathi Sibisi, Tapelo Xoki, Innocent Maela, Sandile Mthethwa and Olisa Ndah fighting for a place in the starting line-up.

In the current campaign, Sibisi and Xoki have been the preferred centre-back pairing having started all four matches in all competitions for the club.

It remains to be seen whether Sesane what decision the Buccaneers will take on Sesane’s future.
