Simo Dladla apologises to former club

PSL coach Simo Dladla has issued an apology to one of his former clubs in the second-tier league for what he terms a misunderstanding.

The ex-Richards Bay FC coach is currently unemployed after parting ways with Venda FC last season. He was dismissed by the Motsepe Foundation Championship side after being placed on suspension.

In an interview with SABC Radio Station, PhalaPhala FM, Dladla made claims that he was forced to play Venda players and was also accused of preferring Zulu players. But the chairman of the club, Itani Munzhelele denied the claims on the same platform.

“I understand that there have been statements attributed to me that were taken out of context and shared online. I want to make it clear that my words were not intended to accuse the chairman of the club, Mr. Itani Munzhelele, of any wrongdoing,” he said.

“It is my understanding that the club serves to promote the interests of the Venda area, where it finds itself and, in an interview with Phalaphala FM, I suggested that the Chairman of the Club instructed me to play Venda players only. It was never my intention to suggest that he instructed me to favour Venda players over Zulu or other players.

FORMER COACH REGRETS HIS UTTERANCES

“I regret any hurt feelings that my words may have caused to the chairman and VFC family and stakeholders. For that, I apologise.

“Please know that I hold no ill will towards the chairman or the club. Our relationship has faced challenges since my departure, but I bear no intention of maligning the club’s management and hope that we can have good relations in the future,” he said.

“As I reflect on the time spent with Venda Football Club. I am filled with gratitude for the memories and experiences we shared together.

“I wish the club, its players, and its management team nothing but success in their future endeavours. May they also continue to thrive and bring joy to the football community.”
