Orbit College maintain winning form to go top of the log
Newly promoted Orbit College maintained their winning form in the Motsepe Foundation Championship to go top of the league table.
The North West-based outfit claimed two back-to-back victories in the Championship since getting promoted from the ABC Motsepe League last season.
Orbit College beat Platinum City Rovers 2-1 in the opening match of the season before walking away with a slender 1-0 win over Milford FC on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Milford, also promoted from the ABC Motsepe League, suffered their second loss in the NFD.
Milford lost their first game of the campaign to Maritzburg United who were relegated from the DStv Premiership last season.
Elsewhere, Casric Stars bounced back to winning ways after defeating Black Leopards 1-0 at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday.
Casric Stars came close to gaining promotion to the SA’s top flight after losing out in the promotion/relegation playoffs to Cape Town Spurs.
Spurs overcame Casric Stars and Maritzburg United in the playoffs to gain promotion to the Premiership for the 2023/24 season.
Polokwane City was crowned NFD champions, and the Urban Warriors were promoted to the topflight alongside them.
In addition, ex-PSL side Marumo Gallants played to a goalless draw against Hungry Lions to remain winless in the Championship.
Despite showing good form in the CAF Confederations Cup, Gallants got the chop to the second tier.
Young Africans of Tanzania knocked out the Limpopo-based side in the semi-finals.
Furthermore, Baroka played an entertaining 2-2 draw against Platinum City Rovers at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday.
