PSL club interested in signing Siyabonga Mbatha

Premier Soccer League club has shown interest in signing the goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha who recently parted ways with Golden Arrows.

The 34-year-old goalie decided to leave Abafana Bes’thende as he seeks regular game time elsewhere. 

There’s also stiff competition among Arrows goalkeepers with the club having also signed Ismail Watenga on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. Further, the KZN side replaced Mbatha with the Nigerian ‘keeper Olufemi Kayode.

As he continues to search for his new home, Maritzburg United have enquired about his services.

According to FARPost sources, Mbatha is still picturing himself in the DStv Premiership and is hopeful to get a club before long.

However, it is understood he hasn’t shut out the Team of Choice and the rest of the Motsepe Foundation clubs.

Following their relegation from the DStv Premiership, Maritzburg lost Renaldo Learner who went on to sign with Sekhukhune United. King Ndlovu, also left and was under assessment at Royal AM before he returned to his old club Marumo Gallants.

In replacing the duo, Maritzburg have only signed Dumisani Msibi from the University of Pretoria.

Moreover, having lost a lot of key players before the start of the season, Maritzburg have made several signings building the all-new team for the new coach Zipho Dlangalala.

They welcomed back Leletu Skelem and Zukile Kewuti who have had stints with the club before.

They strengthened their defence with the additions of Tshepo Gumede, Xolani Slawula, Siphamandla Nzuza, Mnelisi Mbhele and Samkelo Jali.

Other signings are Athenkosi Dlala, Mosesenyane Maswanganyi, Njabulo Hlela, Bantu Chingi and Sanele Gaxa.

Meanwhile, Maritzburg started off their journey in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with the right foot. They defeated Milford with a slender 1-0 scoreline on Friday last week at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
