Sekhukhune United confirm Thabo Senong’s departure

DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United have confirmed the departure of coach Thabo Senong, who is set for a move to Tanzania.

As FARPost reported last week, Senong is set to link up with Ernst Middendorp at Singida Fountain Gate.

The German coach was unveiled last week and is expected to announce his support staff with Senong as the assistant coach. Senong tendered his resignation as Head of Development at the club last week.

THABO SENONG DEPARTURE CONFIRMED 

“Sekhukhune United Football Club wishes to announce the departure of Mr. Thabo Senong from his role as Head of Development. He tendered his resignation, which was duly accepted,” the club said in a statement.

“As sad as we are to lose him, we are a club that believes in individual growth, and this is one such opportunity for coach Senong. We thank him for his unwavering commitment to Sekhukhune United. He presented himself professionally at all times, and we wish him nothing but the best,” said executive chairman Simon Malatji.  

EX SA U/20 COACH EXPRESS GRATITUDE AT SEKHUKHUNE UNITED 

Senong joined the PSL side in July 2021 as assistant coach to then-head coach McDonald Makhubedu. He took over the role of head of development in November 2022. Senong is also a former coach of the Lesotho national team. 

“I hereby wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the time I spent with the club, I am leaving the club with a great sense of emotional fulfilment for the foundations well laid,” said Senong in a statement released by the club.

“I am leaving Sekhukhune United with some good memories. It was a pleasure to have been part of this ambitious club. My sincerest thanks to everyone for affording me the platform to serve the club.

“Let me also express my greatest gratitude to the Chairman for his wisdom, humility and all his teachings,” he said.
