Pitso Mosimane: ‘This annoys me so much’

Al Wahda head coach Pitso Mosimane has singled out a recurring issue that annoys him so much.

Mosimane is in the country and, on Tuesday, attended the handover of the Nedbank Multipurpose Sports Court at Lofentse Girls High School in Orlando East, Soweto.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the UAE-based mentor addressed the issue of wantaway Mamelodi Sundowns winger Gaston Sirino.

Recent reports have been that the Uruguayan is on the radar of Al Wahda. This comes after Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena confirmed the 32-year-old had made a transfer request.

Sirino has also not featured for the Brazilians this season, signalling he could be headed for the exit door at Chloorkop.

WHAT ANNOYS PITSO MOSIMANE SO MUCH

“I don’t want to talk about Gaston Sirino. This annoys me so much,” Mosimane said, as quoted by iDiski Times’ Lorenz Kohler. “If [Al Wahda] wants Gaston Sirino, we’d go to Mamelodi Sundowns.

“There’s been a lot of talk, and if Sundowns prepared to sell Sirino? I don’t know, Sundowns don’t need money, hey, to sell Sirino. So sometimes these things are a lost cause. Why do you go there?”

While at Al Ahly in 2021, Mosimane wanted Sirino and says they “never got the price”.

“So if a player doesn’t have a price, how do you buy them? Everyone has a price. [Kylian] Mbappe, you know, is 200 million, you know that akere. But Sirino doesn’t have one. How do you buy him without a price? Where do you start?”

He went on to say he was not keen on going the same route as he did during his time at Ahly. Mosimane categorically stated that the reports were untrue.

“So it’s lies and allegation to say Al Wahda wants Sirino, or people are tapping up Sirino. No, remember they said we want [Thembinkosi] Lorch, we want [Peter] Shalulile, I’m always in the middle of all these things, and if we want them we’ll approach the teams.”

Mosimane’s comments suggest that Al Wahda are unlikely to sign Sirino. It remains to be seen where Sirino’s future lies.
