Xulu likens SuperSport to Bafana’s way of recruiting youngsters

Defender Siyanda Xulu has likened SuperSport United to Bafana Bafana’s way of recruiting youngsters into the national team setup.

In recent years, SuperSport has produced quality players from their youth ranks that have turned into stars. Teboho Mokoena, Sipho Mbule, Thapelo Maseko, Oswin Appolis, and Ronwen Williams lead it.

With Matsatsantsa having produced a lot of incredible players in the past, the club continues to look towards the youths to rebuild their club almost every season.

This development has been praised by Xulu, who recently joined the Tshwane giants during this transfer window period.

The former Kaizer Chiefs centre-back was asked what he thinks of Bafana’s succession plan.

Xulu was quick to praise Broos’ approach of bringing youngsters into the national and went on to give an analogy with his club, SuperSport, on how they introduce young players into the first team.

SIYANDA XULU ON BAFANA BAFANA SUCCESSION

“I think the situation regarding the national team and SuperSport United, it has some similarities when it comes to youngsters coming in,” Xulu told the media.

“A bit of responsibility from myself and other senior players just to try and to be responsible for the performances, training sessions and for them to understand what needs to be done for us as a team to achieve what we would like to achieve.

“I mean, it’s the same things that happen here at Bafana. We have a very young pool of players who are currently doing well in the PSL and at the international level which is very good for me.”

XULU LOOKING FORWARD TO SHARE HIS EXPERIENCE WITH YOUNGSTERS

The well-travelled defender further revealed that he’s willing to share his experience with the youngsters. He insists that he understands their situation as he was once a youngster himself.

“I can only be excited to welcome young players coming into the national team for me to give guidance. I was once young, and I was in the very situation they are now,” he added.

“And also, I was going to be very happy if I had a coach like Hugo Broos who always want to put youngsters in the team to realise their dream.”
