Why Nyiko Mobbie always makes it in Hugo Broos’ squad
Bafana Bafana defender Nyiko Mobbie has explained why he is always included in coach Hugo Broos’ final squad ahead of the national team’s friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo.
The Sekhukhune United full-back Mobbie has been one of Broos’ trusted men since the Belgian coach took charge of the national team back in May 2021.
Mobbie faces stiff competition in his position from the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns duo Khuliso Mudau, Thapelo Morena and Thabiso Monyane of Orlando Pirates.
Just like any footballer, the 28-year-old has had his highs and lows. However, Bafana coach Broos has kept his faith in him.
So far, everything is going well for the right-back. He has got 12 caps with Bafana.
NYIKO MOBBIE SAYS HE’S PLAYING THE WAY HUGO BROOS WANTS
According to Mobbie, he’s always in Hugo Broos’ team because he plays the kind of football the coach wants him to play. In addition, he also follows the coach’s instructions every time.
“To represent our country is not easy. For me, I’m just listening to the coach, what he wants,” Mobbie told SAFA media.
“I think I have to keep on going [working hard]. I have to give my best each and every game when I play.
“We don’t have a lot of games to play. Sometimes, we take one or two months to play. So when you get a chance, you have to give your best.
“I think the best way if you feel like the game is not going the way you want, you have to stick to basics, you have to defend if you have to defend.”
Mobbie is in line to feature when Bafana Bafana host Namibia and DR Congo. The two international friendly matches will be played on 9 and 12 September, respectively.
Both encounters will be played at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
