Namibia coach pinpoints Bafana’s strengths
Namibia head coach Collin Benjamin has pinpointed Bafana Bafana’s strengths after the 0-0 draw against South Africa in an international friendly match on Saturday, 9 September 2023.
The game took place at Orlando Stadium in front of 8,366 spectators.
The friendly international is part of the preparations for the 2023 AFCON tournament and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November 2023.
Coach Benjamin has revealed what makes it difficult to play against Hugo Broos’ charges, especially on their own turf.
The Namibian mentor was speaking at the post-match press conference at Orlando Stadium after the two nations’ goalless draw stalemate.
COLLINS BENJAMIN POINTS OUT BAFANA BAFANA’S STRENGTHS
“Tactically, you guys have good players,” Benjamin told the media.
“So, If you can have that tactic and basically that the base of executing your tactics because that’s what you have.
“In normal circumstances, you would do better. It’s probably that you came up against a team that was prepared and the team that knows you guys.”
Benjamin further stated how his side managed to stand tall against a good side like Bafana.
“Half of our players play here in South Africa, and some of them are looking to get opportunities in your country,” he added.
“So, they know them very well, and I think that’s the only advantage that we had towards you [Bafana Bafana].
“But, all in all, we saw what you guys did to Morocco. That’s why I’m saying the region is growing. We have got good players, and you guys have good structures. It’s now up to us to try to get that.”
BAFA BAFANA’S NEXT ASSIGNMENT
Bafana will face DR Congo on Tuesday, 12 September at 17h00. The game will also take place at Orlando Stadium.
