Latest update on Royal AM goalkeeper Hugo Nyame

Royal AM goalkeeper Hugo Nyame has been out for some time due to the injury he sustained last season, here is the latest update on the shot-stopper.

The Cameroonian goalie suffered a knee injury in a match against Sekhukhune United in April. He reportedly went under the knife to get his injury treated.

It’s no secret Thwihli Thwahla have been struggling in the goalkeeping department in his absence. Royal AM’s technical team has also been inconsistent when picking their number-one goalkeeper between Xolani Ngcobo and Mondli Mpoto.

The former SuperSport United shot-stopper has featured twice this season while Ngcobo has made five appearances in all competitions.

The Pietermaritzburg-based side has received a major boost after Nyame returned from injury. He took part during their friendly match against AmaZulu FC on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The 37-year-old is expected back between the posts when the DStv Premiership resumes in the upcoming weekend after the international break.

Nyame might get his first appearance this season when they take on Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, 16 September at FNB Stadium at 5:30.

INABILITY TO SIGN KING NDLOVU

Meanwhile, Royal AM welcomed King Ndlovu for the assessment during the pre-season after he left Maritzburg United following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

He was part of the travelling squad when AM participated in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup although he didn’t feature.

As previously reported last month, FARPost was reliably informed that the club was keen on signing Ndlovu. However, the FIFA ban was a stumbling block.

A transfer ban was imposed on Royal AM after they failed to pay an amount of R12 million owed to their former striker Samir Nurkovic. Now, Ndlovu has reunited with his former club Marumo Gallants.
