Amakhosi share promising Keagan Dolly fitness update

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has given another injury update on star player Keagan Dolly, who has yet to feature in any of the PSL competitions for Amakhosi this season.

His last match came in April against Sekhukhune United when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear. On average, that kind of injury normally takes a player six to nine months to recover.

Three weeks ago, Ntseki indicated that the 30-year-old had started training.

It seems Dolly is now edging closer to a return after he also featured in a recent friendly match during the FIFA International break. The clash was against second-tier league side AmaTuks

THE LATEST ON KEAGAN DOLLY’S INJURY

“Keagan Dolly just played his first 45 minutes last week when we played a friendly match,” revealed Ntseki.

“We all know what type of injury he sustained so it’s not going to be just a quick return to play. He is still going through back-to-play protocols, tactical and physical.

“But the most important thing is that mentally he is very strong and he looks sharp in terms of his tactical understanding of the game. So hopefully in the next week or so, he will be available for selection,” he added.

WHY KAIZER CHIEFS COACH MOLEFI NTSEKI IS PLEASED

Ntseki was also happy that most of the players who had been out with injuries were slowly coming back into the team.

“As for the players that were laid off due to injuries, a few of them have started training with the team. But those who had a long layoff still have to recover from the physical readiness in terms of their preparation.

“But tactically I think we have good-quality players and the only thing which is very important is for them to have the right coordination and the right physical readiness for the next matches,” he said.

“I must say it’s promising and it’s very positive to have the whole squad back at training and having that headache of selecting the best team to go into camp and to play matches.”

Amakhosi are back in action this Saturday when they host Royal AM at FNB Stadium at 17:30.
