Sundowns legend believes Komphela is prepared to succeed at Swallows

A Mamelodi Sundowns legend believes Steve Komphela is prepared to take Moroka Swallows to the promised land despite the inconsistent results in the new season.

So far, The Dube Birds have played six games under the tutelage of Komphela, five league matches, and a domestic cup match [MTN8].

From those six clashes, the Soweto giants have won two matches, drew one, and lost three in the process.

However, former Masandawana captain Hlompho Kekana feels Komphela has the ability to build a formidable Swallows side that will be difficult to defeat.

Komphela took over the coaching reigns at Maswaiswai after parting ways with Bafana Ba Style on a mutual agreement.

HLOMPHO KEKANA WEIGHS IN ON STEVE KOMPHELA AT MOROKA SWALLOWS

“In football, it depends on how the players adapt to certain coaches and I have got no doubt,” Kekana told FARPost

“As I have mentioned, these players need motivation enough to compete in their spaces.

“He has got good players and a good technical team. And without a doubt, he has been in the game for too long.”

The ex-Bafana Bafana international continued: “He is experienced enough to win football matches and he has been tested before.

“So, he is the man who I believe he has got enough experience to make sure that he takes Swallows to the next level.”

As things stand, Swallows are placed 7th on the DStv Premiership log standings with seven points from five outings.

The side recently suffered a 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday night. This comes after the resumption of the DStv Premiership matches after the FIFA Break.

MOROKA SWALLOWS’ NEXT ASSIGNMENT

Swallows will return to action on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 when they take on Stellenbosch FC away from home.

The kick-off is set for 19:30.
