Jose Riveiro issues an update on Pirates trio

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has issued an update on three stars that have been out for quite some time due to long-term injury setbacks.

The trio of Thembinkosi Lorch, Vincent Pule, and Ben Motshwari have all been missing from action since the start of the current PSL campaign and are yet to feature this season.

Ahead of this season Pule and Motshwari signed contract extensions; two years and one year respectively. As for Lorch, his contract expires on 30 June 2024.

JOSE RIVEIRO SAYS THE TRIO IS STILL PART OF HIS PLANS

According to Riveiro; Lorch, Pule, and Motshwari are part of Pirates’ plans. Once they fully recover from injury setbacks they will get some minutes and play time like all other players.

“You mentioned three exceptional players, professionals. They were in different stages in recent times going through different periods in terms of form and injuries,” said Riveiro.

“Everyone in our squad is part of our plans, we have 36 players. From the coaching staff, trust me we try to look all of them with the same eyes and intention.”

JOSE RIVEIRO ON DIFFICULTIES OF SELECTING THE MATCHDAY SQUAD

Riveiro further highlighted on the difficulties of selecting the matchday squad in a big squad like Pirates.

“We have exceptional material in our hands and we have to take the best out of them. It’s our responsibility to have them [players] perform at the best level and then we have to choose.

“We have to decide which 11 is going to start, which 20 is traveling with the team. We try to be fair, we try to be right and we try to make sure that Pirates is winning,” he added.
