Orlando Pirates star to miss highly-anticipated Sundowns clash
Orlando Pirates star is set to miss the highly-anticipated DStv Premiership clash against the champions Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
Pirates shift their focus to league action after suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Jwaneng Galaxy in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.
The Botswana-based outfit is under the guidance of South African tactician Morena Ramoreboli who keeps haunting Pirates.
Ten years ago, Ramoreboli claimed a famous 4-1 victory against the Buccaneers in the Nedbank Cup with Maluti FET College.
In the current season, Pirates have won two, drawn one and lost one of the four games they have played in the league. They are lying seventh on the log with seven points.
Meanwhile, the Brazilians beat Pirates in both Premiership fixtures last season. And the Ghosts knocked Sundowns out of the MTN8 in the semi-finals.
The Jose Riveiro-coached team went on to win the top eight competition against AmaZulu FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium in December 2022.
Pirates will take on the high-flying Sundowns at Orlando Stadium without one of their key players.
NDABAYITHETHWA NDLONDLO TO MISS PIRATES’ CLASH AGAINST SUNDOWNS
Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo will miss the league clash against Masandawana. He accumulated his fourth yellow card of the season against Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 two weeks ago.
Ndlondlo has featured in all opening four league games for Pirates in the new season and he contributed two assists.
The skillful midfielder joined the Soweto giants at the start of the 2022/23 campaign from Marumo Gallants.
Jose Riveiro has a number of options to pick to replace the midfielder in the Pirates’ starting line-up against Sundowns. The Buccaneers have Kabelo Dlamini, Fortune Makaringe, Lesedi Kapinga and Katlego Otladisa who can slot into the attacking midfield position.
