When Mthethwa is likely to make his Kaizer Chiefs debut

Kaizer Chiefs have provided an update on when new signing Sibongiseni Mthethwa is likely to make his debut.

Mthethwa was unveiled as a Chiefs player on Thursday after completing a move from Cape Winelands outfit Stellenbosch FC.

The midfield grafter becomes the club’s ninth signing under coach Molefi Ntseki as Amakhosi are making a major squad overhaul.

The Glamour Boys have acquired the services of Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi, Tebogo Potsane, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Given Msimango, Ranga Chivaviro, Edson Castillo and Jasond Gonzalez.

The man nicknamed ‘Ox’ may don the Kaizer Chiefs jersey for the first time when they host Sekhukhune United.

The two teams will battle it out for three points at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday 27 September in a league encounter.

The club announced via their website that Mthethwa will link up and start training with the rest of the squad on Monday 25 September.

WHERE COULD SIBONGISENI MTHETHWA FIT IN AT KAIZER CHIEFS?

The Bafana Bafana international’s arrival at Chiefs will see him occupy the defensive midfielder role in front of the backline.

This, in turn, will benefit Edson Castillo, who will likely play a more advanced role. He has weighed in with goals each time he ventured forward to aid the attack.

Yusuf Maart has previously told journalists that he prefers playing as a number eight. With Mthethwa playing at the base of a midfield three, Maart could be deployed in his favoured position.

Siyethemba Sithebe and Samkelo Zwane will also be looking to put in a fight for a place in the Amakhosi lineup.

The two players have been periphery players so far this season. In the past matches, Ntseki opted to play Castillo as a defending midfielder ahead of them.
