‘One day fortune will come to us’: Chiefs’ defender Zitha Kwinika

Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has reacted to his side being the victims of poor matching officiating lately in the PSL.

This comes after the questionable refereeing decisions when Amakhosi succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 second-leg semi-final clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium over the weekend.

Kwinika has reacted to the penalty claim they were denied during their match against Masandawana.

Mduduzi Mdantsane was visibly seen being brought down following a tackle from Thapelo Maseko in the box.

This incident left Chiefs fans disappointed and claiming that Sundowns are benefiting from match officials.

The Amakhosi faithful felt like their side was hard done by the referee’s [Luxolo Badi] decision not to award the penalty which would have seen them progress to the MTN8 finals.

ZITHA KWINIKA ON BAD OFFICIATING AGAINST KAIZER CHIEFS

Speaking at the pre-match press briefing at Moses Mabhida Stadium ahead of their DStv Premiership clash with Sekhukhune United, Kwinika shared his thoughts on the referee’s poor officiating they have been receiving.

“I think in a position I am, I’m not the right person to comment on referees and what not,” said Kwinika.

“My position is basically us players focusing on what we can change which is our performance.

“And obviously, we understand where we are, to be honest with you. We know the team we are in, the supporters want results.”

The former Stellenbosch FC defender continued: “So in us, the coach we are with him. What I like the most about him is that he tells us every day that he doesn’t mind and he will take it as long as we keep doing the right things.

“One day things will change. The fortune will come to us also. So, we are in it together. There’s nothing that’s going to stop us.”

Kwinika went on to touch on the issue of the club’s supporters who want coach Molefi Ntseki gone as the results have not been forthcoming.

“We understand that they are part of us, and obviously at the end of the day is us in the change room and the training field. We know how we prepare and we know what’s at stake,” He added.

“One thing about football people we will win two games and everything will change and we are in the process of doing that. We know what to do to change the whole thing.”
