Who will replace Stanford Nkoane at Baroka?

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC are expected to announce a new coach to replace Stanford Nkoane on Monday.

FARPost can confirm the club officially parted ways with Nkoane following a meeting on Sunday.

Baroka are the third Motsepe Foundation Championship to part ways with their coach this season. Black Leopards were the first club to make coaching changes following the departure of Alejandro Dorado after three matches. PSL newcomers Milford FC have also fired Asanda Mvalo after four defeats in a row.

The decision follows the 1-1 draw against Casric Stars on Friday afternoon. Nkoane was reportedly given a mandate to win three out of the opening five games of the current season. But he has only collected three points from three draws and two defeats.

Broka are third from bottom on the log, two points above bottom-placed Milford FC.

“We parted ways with the technical team of Stanley Nkoane and his assistant Job Maputha, the goalkeeper coach [Nnothi Lekgau]. This was due to poor performances,” club boss Khurishi Mphahlele told FARPost.

Mphahlele also revealed that the future of first assistant coach Foster Hlungwani will depend on the incoming coach’s preference.

There have been names of potential replacements doing the rounds within the football circles in Limpopo. Current Venda FC coach Joel Masutha has also been mentioned as a person earmarked by the club.

Masutha still has a contract at Venda FC but news reaching this publication is that the club intends to appoint Johnny Ferrera as the head coach. Ferreria was recently appointed as a Technical advisor at the club.

Another surprise name that has reportedly been mentioned is Polokwane City co-coach Duncan Lechesa.

Lechesa, who was in charge when Polokwane City gained promotion, has been linked with an exit for some time now. But this publication has been reliably informed that there could be a shock move of Lechesa moving to Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele.

Another coach that is rumoured to be on the wanted list of Baroka FC is Papi Zothwane. Zothwane has been without a team since parting ways with Uthongathi FC.

The club is expected to reveal the new coach and all the details on Monday.
