Dan Malesela lands new job
Former Chippa United coach Dan Malesela is back in the dugout after landing a new coaching job.
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC have announced that ‘Dan Dance’ will take over from Stanford Nkoane.
Nkoane officially left the club on Sunday after failing to meet the club’s mandate in the first five games.
The PSL club held a media briefing on Monday at the Global Village in Limpopo where the 58-year-old was introduced to the media. He will also start the training sessions on Monday and is expected to be on the bench on Wednesday.
BAROKA FC CHAIRMAN DELIGHTED TO HAVE EXPERIENCED MENTOR
“He is going to be with us until the end of the season, hopefully when we go to the DStv Premiership,” said club boss Khurishi Mphahlele.
“Our aim is to go to the DStv Premiership. That’s why we have a man like Dan Malesela here to sign with us.
“Personally, I am a fan of Dan Malesela and it has been my dream to have him here one day. I have tried so many times. He knows that he can come here but we were not lucky all the time,” Mphahlele told journalists.
“This time around we were lucky that he is here today and I am so happy. I am sure Baroka FC supporters in Limpopo will be happy. He brings beautiful football. I am sure we will fill up the Global stadium in our home matches with the boys we have.”
DAN MALESELA TAKES OVER AT MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP
Malesela, whose last job was at Marumo Gallants says he has always admired the club from a distance.
“First is to appreciate what the chairman did, we didn’t even talk for too long,” said Malesela.
“I think it took a day or two and we agreed. I was fortunate that sometimes when I was with the other team, I was driving with the technical team. So I said I was interested in seeing the Village. I came in and I was fortunate the chairman was here and I was highly impressed with what I saw.
“Something kept bugging me as to why this team would be playing in the first division. With this facility and everything that is here, this is like a dream for many clubs, even those in the DStv Premiership,” he said.
“In the back of my mind, I said maybe one-day things will happen that I can help this club. Here it is, let’s see.
Baroka will host Upington City in Lebowakgomo on Wednesday and Malesela will be on the bench.
