Chiefs ecstatic as top talisman makes squad for CT City tie

Kaizer Chiefs are ecstatic as a top talisman has made the squad set to face Cape Town City on Tuesday night in Soweto.

Chiefs take on CT City at the FNB Stadium in a DStv Premiership encounter as they look to build on their last win. Amakhosi came back from behind, beating Sekhukhune United 2-1 on Wednesday last week.

This will be the second time they face City this season after beating them 2-1 in the quarterfinal of the MTN8 Cup.

Ahead of Tuesday’s tie against the Citizens, Chiefs got a massive boost as a long-term injury absentee is in the squad for the tie.

KAIZER CHIEFS’ KEAGAN DOLLY COULD FEATURE AGAINST CITY

Amakhosi fans can rejoice as long-term injury absentee Keagan Dolly is available for selection.
Dolly has been out of action since April with a knee injury he sustained during a league match against Sekhukhune United.

The 30-year-old has been in training for the past few weeks and even featured in friendly matches during the last international break. In fact, three weeks ago, Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki hinted he was close to returning.

“Keagan Dolly just played his first 45 minutes when we played a friendly,” Ntseki told media. “… It’s not going to be just a quick return to play. I think he’s still going through his ‘back-to-play’ protocol – tactically and physically.

“But I think mentally, he’s very strong. He looks sharp in terms of his tactical understanding of the game. Hopefully, he will be available for selection in the next week or so.”

Dolly’s return will significantly boost Kaizer Chiefs, as he is a key player at the Soweto giants. He has scored 14 goals and 10 assists for Amakhosi in 59 games, and he is sure to add some much-needed creativity and flair to the Chiefs attack.

He is also a leader in the Chiefs dressing room, having captained the side last season. His return will be a timely boost for Chiefs, who are in sixth place in the DStv Premiership table.

They have collected 11 points from eight games, winning three and drawing twice.
