The one weakness Orlando Pirates must fix to defend MTN8 title

A former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder has named the one weakness Orlando Pirates must fix if they want to defend their MTN8 title.

The Jose Riveiro-coached side will take on Masandawana in the MTN8 final showdown on Saturday, 7 October at Moses Mabhida Stadium. The game will kick-off at 18:00.

Pirates come into the much-awaited final clash has wounded tigers, having failed to win a game in their last three matches across all competitions before their 1-0 slender win over Jwaneng Galaxy in their most recent game.

However, the retired footballer Josta Dladla has since revealed what Pirates need to do to overcome the red-hot Brazilians in the final.

JOSTA DLADLA ON WHAT ORLANDO PIRATES NEED TO FIX AHEAD OF THE MTN8 FINAL

The 44-year-old reckons that Pirates need to work more on their winning mentality, as he spoke about the huge gap between the two teams.

“You know the winning mentality is there. They don’t have to play well to win but to create that winning mentality. That’s how sometimes you build a team,” Dladla told FARPost.

“But, I mean, what you can do as a coach you can only wish for your players to wake up and say we need to go out there and do well.”

NOT GOING TO BE AN EASY GAME FOR PIRATES AGAINST MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

Dladla went on to say it won’t be a walk in the park for Riveiro’s men to defeat Sundowns.

“When you look at Sundowns, they have got Themba Zwane and Lucas Ribeiro even though is he injured and don’t know if he will be ready for the game,” he added.

“Peter Shalulile is also back banging goals. You never know who to stop because anybody can show up on the day to score for Sundowns. Like you have a whole starting 11 that can just show up.

“Also, the coach can also change the whole starting 11 and hit the ground running. It’s going to be an interesting game to watch obviously.”

The Sea Robbers would like to defend their title as they have won four titles of the tournament since the telecommunications company took over as sponsor in 2008.
