Agent Glyn Binkin on Luke Fleurs’ Chiefs trial
Luke Fleurs’ agent, Glyn Binkin, has spoken on the former SuperSport United defender’s trial at Kaizer Chiefs, writes Tshifhiwa Luvhengo.
The 23-year-old centre-back started his trial at Chiefs in September 2023. This was after his contract with SuperSport United was terminated a week before the PSL transfer window closed on 22 September 2023.
There has been no official update from Kaizer Chiefs on the status of the player’s trial since then.
WHAT GLYN BINKIN SAID ABOUT LUKE FLEURS’ FUTURE
Binkin told FARPost that his client Luke Fleurs is still training with Chiefs although there has not been communication on whether the club would give him a contract.
“I don’t have much to say now except that Fleurs is still on training with Chiefs and is doing well,” said Binkin.
“I think when the time is right, we will be able to give new developments with regards to Fleurs’ future. But now he is still at Chiefs.”
The highly-rated youngster, who made 11 appearances last season for United, decided to leave Matsatsantsa a Pitori. This was after he slipped down the pecking order under Gavin Hunt.
The four-time PSL title-winning coach, Hunt, signed Bafana Bafana’s experienced defender Siyanda Xulu. Ime Akon was also promoted from their DStv Diski Challenge team. In their defence, United also have the likes of former Bafana captain Thulani Hlatshwayo, Onisimor Bhasera and Ronald Pfumbidzai.
If Fleurs impresses the Chiefs’ technical team, he will be the 10th player to sign with the Soweto giants. Chiefs signed nine players in the past transfer window.
They acquired the services of Pule Mmodi, Tebogo Potsane, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Sphiwe Msimanago, Ranga Chavaviro, Edson Castillo, Jasond Gonzalez, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe whom Fleurs played with at United last season.
The former South African youth international is seen as a massive investment for the future.
