‘He reminds me of my old self’: Dinha heaps praise on a Pirates star

Former Orlando Pirates captain Edelbert Dinha has singled out one midfielder he believes is the unsung hero in the Soweto giants squad, saying the player reminds him of his former self.

With the likes of Zakhele Lepasa and Monnapule Saleng getting all the attention, the former captain, Edelbert Dinha has been impressed by one midfielder.

Dinha believes the sea robbers have all the ingredients needed to end Mamelodi Sundowns‘ stranglehold of the DStv Premiership.

The former Zimbabwean international said the 31-year-old midfielder brings a different and simple dimension to the team.

Dinha said: “There was a time I was so bored by watching Orlando Pirates. I wasn’t following them anymore because of how they played,” Dinha told FARPost

“But this team has given me the confidence and belief in the brand, Orlando Pirates again.

“So many players have been so good. We talk of the likes of the striker Zakhele Lepasa and Monnapule Saleng. Even Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo and the youngster Relebohile Mofokeng has given a good account of himself.

“In the whole team, there is a player that has really impressed me but he is overshadowed by those scoring goals.”

Former Orlando Pirates captain Edelbert Dinha believes Miguel Timm is the unsung player in the Soweto giants squad.
Miguel Timm

According to Edelbert Dinha, Miguel Timm has been the smartest midfielder in Pirates’ books. In addition, Dinha said Timm reminds him of his playing days.

“For me, the unsung player has been Miguel Timm. He reminds me of my former self as a player. I was always a one-touch player.

“That is the best a midfielder can be. He is a smart player, and even how he applies himself shows quality.

“Even Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo is a very exceptional but Timm is the star. His presence has made a big difference in the team,” the former captain Edelbert Dinha added.

Timm has featured in four matches for the Soweto giants in all competitions, with no goal to his name.
