What led to Ma-indies’ relegation from the Super League

Ma-Indies Ladies owner Falaza Mdaka has pointed out some of the factors that led to the club’s relegation from the Hollywoodbets Super League.

The club was relegated from the SAFA Women’s top League with three matches to play and will subsequently compete in the lower Sasol League.

The club has produced players who have gone on to play for Banyana Banyana such as Noko Matlou and Lebogang Ramalepe.

MA-INDIES LADIES RELEGATION FROM HOLLYWOODBETS SUPER LEAGUE CONFIRMED

They initially gained promotion in 2019 and spent three seasons in the Super League. Their relegation was confirmed after a 2-0 loss to City Lads Ladies on Saturday.

“Of Course, we were expecting this but there is no way that the players can’t be affected, others are feeling very bad,” Mdaka told FARPost

“It’s a question of us now checking on how we then motivate them to play the last few games remaining.

“You saw how we played our last few games, the margins were not that bad. It shows that as a team we can make a comeback next season,” he said.

FALAZA MDAKA POINTS OUT WHAT WENT WRONG

The Limpopo side has won just two matches and drew two and lost 23 of their 27 matches. Mdaka believes having to rebuild the squad was a major contributing factor for them.

“We lost a lot of players at the beginning of the season, that is one thing. Building a team in a short space of time is not easy. So we lost key players and were only left with three players.

“So the rest were new players who were recruited this season. Some of the players we wanted were committed elsewhere until towards the end of the season when we managed to recruit players,” he said.

“Discipline was also an issue leading to the coach releasing some players. But with the coach that is there now you could see that they were playing very well.”

Their last three matches of the season will be against TS Galaxy Queens, Tuks Ladies and TUT.
