Clinton Larsen comments on Royal AM links

Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has opened up on reports that he could be leaving the club to join Royal AM.

Larsen has been touted to take over from head coach John Maduka at the DStv Premiership side based in KZN.

He was also not on the bench when Magesi lost to Upington City last week Friday, which further sparked the rumours that he has resigned.

But the 52-year-old was back in the dugout when the Motsepe Foundation Championship side beat Marumo Gallants 2-0 in Polokwane on Tuesday.

WHY CLINTON LARSEN WAS MISSING IN ACTION?

Larsen has since clarified the reports and explained his absence from the bench this past week.

“There is nothing to talk about because I went home to see my family. I had a family emergency so I went on Thursday and came back yesterday,” he said.

“That’s just rumours. We have a very good relationship here with the management, myself, and the players,” explained Larsen.

“I think if it is a destabilising factor to the team we would not be performing the way we have been and we would not be getting the results.

“I also don’t tolerate interference so that was just a rumour. It’s not true and I would like to clear that fact,” he said.

The win on Tuesday takes Magesi to position three on the log, four points behind log leaders Orbit College.

“It’s important to be in good company. We are trying to stay in the top end of the table but it’s a long way to go,” added Larsen.

“We just want to make sure that we get consistent performances which often yield results. So we just want to keep the boys at this level of play now. Hopefully, the results will continue to come,” he said.

Magesi will travel to Malamulele Stadium for the Limpopo derby against Venda FC in their next match.
