Victorien Adebayor dribbles AmaZulu FC, destined for Tanzania

After signing for AmaZulu FC in the recent past window, Victorien Adebayor seems to have dribbled the club as he looks destined for Tanzania.

Usuthu announced the acquisition of Adebayor ahead of the start of the current season. However, it was reported Visa issues and the closure of airspace in Niger delayed his arrival.

Meanwhile, the club’s president Sandile Zungu told FARPost in September that SA authorities had issued the Visa to the striker and his arrival was imminent. But still, there was no sign of the 26-year-old at the club.

Further, Niger played with Somalia in Morocco during the FIFA break in October and it was an opportunity for him to fly straight to SA after national team duty. However, he never came down to join the KZN side.

Adebayor is reportedly heading to Tanzanian giants Simba SC and could join the club in January.

He has been linked with Simba a couple of times since last year when he was still playing for US Gendarmerie nationale in Niger. This was before his RS Berkane switch.

Moreover, in July this year, his move to Simba was said to have collapsed in the final stages.

On the other hand, AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confirmed the club will be taking the matter to FIFA. He says Usuthu made arrangements for Adebayor to come to SA but the striker wasn’t “honourable in his dealings with the club”.

AMAZULU TO TAKE ADEBAYOR’S MATTER TO FIFA

“Adebayor, we signed him and organised a Visa for him in Niger and he was not honourable in his dealings with the team,” Zungu told the media.

“He was not honourable. What I can say is that we are not happy with Adebayor’s matter and we have taken it to FIFA. Where we are? I’d rather impose a limit in terms of what I’ve said.

“We want to make an example of him that you mustn’t mess with Usuthu. This is a nation’s club and when you mess with us, you’re eroding the dignity of the whole nation.”
