Dan Malesela’s Baroka maintain impressive run, Maritzburg drop points
Baroka FC maintained their impressive form in the Motsepe Foundation Championship under the guidance of Dan Malesela after beating Orbit College 1-0 at Olympia Park Stadium on Saturday.
The Limpopo-based side has played seven games under Malesela and won five matches while drawing two.
Baroka moved fourth on the Motsepe Foundation log after defeating Orbit College who had a flying start to the 2023/24 campaign. Despite losing against Bakgakga, the Mswenko Boys remain top of the log with 22 points in 12 games played.
Orbit College were promoted to the NFD from the ABC Motsepe League at the start of the season. So far in the professional ranks, they have won seven games, drew one, and lost on four occasions.
MARITZBURG UNITED DROP CRUCIAL POINTS
Elsewhere, Maritzburg United dropped points after playing to a goalless draw against NB La Masia at the Isak Steyl Stadium on Friday.
The Team of Choice were relegated from the DStv Premiership at the end of last season.
In the current Championship season, Maritzburg won five games and drew four while losing three times and accumulated 19 points in 12 matches.
Meanwhile, Magesi FC continued their great form with a 3-1 victory against Hungry Lions at Windhoek Draught Park on Saturday.
Magesi are positioned third on the second-tier league table with 21 points in 12 games played. In addition, Black Leopards and Venda FC played to a 1-1 draw at Thohoyandou Stadium in the Vhembe derby.
