Why Bartlett is taking time to decide on his next coaching Job

Former Cape Town Spurs coach has explained his delay in making a decision about his future despite receiving coaching offers.

The Bafana Bafana legend parted ways with the DStv Premiership side last month after a poor start to the season.

This is despite the 51-year-old guiding the side to promotion through the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs. Bartlett has since revealed why he has not taken up offers that have been on the table so far.

BAFANA LEGEND SHAUN BARTLETT CAUTIOUS ABOUT HIS FUTURE

“I have engaged with a few teams but it’s all about the right opportunity. I am just going to wait and see, I am not going to just jump into a position for the sake of working,” he said.

“It’s got to be a club that has the vision and the plan going forward as to where the club wants to go. If it falls in with my values and beliefs then I will take the job. That’s what it comes down to, it’s always been about that, I don’t go to a club for the sake of earning a salary.

“I could have done that during my first week of leaving Spurs to be honest because there were a few clubs that did engage at the time. So I am just buying my time and enjoying the break with my family because once I am coaching again it’s going to be 24/7,” he said.

WHAT WENT WRONG AT CAPE TOWN SPURS?

Bartlet has also opened up on what led to his departure from the Urban Warriors. He was in charge when Spurs lost all their opening seven matches of the current season. A new record in the PSL era.

“I think everybody is quite Informed in terms of what went wrong. Firstly, the turnaround time for the pre-season was very short. The lack of investment when getting new players.

“The performances were not that bad, it’s just that the results were not forthcoming and that’s what coaching and playing in the PSL is all about. But we just couldn’t get it and let’s be honest even if you look now they are still not getting it, so it’s a bigger issue than just coaching,” he added.
