Lesotho number 1 goalkeeper attracts interest from PSL clubs

Lesotho’s first-choice goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane has seemingly attracted interest from teams in the PSL.

Moerane recently had a good showing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Benin. He conceded one goal in a match against the Super Eagles away in Uyo.

He also kept a clean-sheet on Tuesday when Likuena played to a 0-0 draw with Benin at home.

The shot-stopper is said to have caught the attention of the two DStv Premiership sides; SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns.

For Matsatsantsa, it’d be reasonable to search for a goalie having lost Boalefa Pule and George Chigova before the start of the current season.

The Zimbabwean goalkeeper, Chigova saw his second spell end in July. The 32-year-old recently passed away after he was reportedly diagnosed with a heart condition.

On the other hand, Pule joined Baroka FC after leaving the Spartans in July.

Black Leopards and Casric Stars are also understood to be in pursuit of the goalminder as the transfer window is approaching.

MOERANE WAS NAMED COSAFA CUP BEST GOALKEEPER AFTER HEROICS IN THE TOURNAMENT

Moerane played an integral role as Lesotho reached the COSAFA Cup final in the tournament that was held in Durban in July this year.

However, Likuena suffered a 1-0 defeat to Zambia who went on to claim their record seventh COSAFA Cup title. Moerane won the Goalkeeper of the Tournament and was also included in the Best XI.

Should he switch to SA, he’d join his fellow countrymen in Motebang Sera [Royal AM], Katleho Makateng [Richards Bay], Tshwarelo Bereng [Orbit College] and Lehlohonolo Seema [Sekhukhune head coach].
