Steve Komphela points out what’s lacking from Andile Jali’s game
Moroka Swallows coach Steve Komphela has offered his expert opinion on the area where midfield maestro Andile Jali can refine his game.
Jali joined Swallows as a free agent ahead of the 2023/24 PSL campaign and has already stamped his authority in the team.
The former Bafana Bafana international has been a key player for the Dube Birds and has been named the captain of the club. So far this season, AJ has been bossing the midfield each time he’s given the opportunity to play on the pitch.
The 33-year-old has made 11 appearances in all competitions and Komphela believes Jali can elevate his game to even greater heights by addressing a certain aspect of his game.
STEVE KOMPHELA SAYS ANDILE JALI HASN’T REACHED TOP SHAPE
Komphela claims that Jali hasn’t reached his top shape. Jali missed a lot of action last season after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.
“The only thing that we have worked on is that he should get top shape, he’s not in top shape yet. But he’s better than the Andile we started with at the beginning of the season,” said Komphela.
“Which is why you see how he plays in terms of brains, the guy has got another level of thinking.
“Andile is Andile, anyone who would wish to define him, otherwise now even if I was to start thinking of how can I break Andile down in terms of explanation. I will just be repeating what we all know.”
STEVE KOMPHELA PRAISES ANDILE JALI’S NATURAL TALENT
Komphela further praised Jali’s natural talent that he possesses which helps Swallows to improve.
“You don’t teach a lion to hunt, you don’t teach a crocodile to bite. It’s just the instinct of a crocodile to be monstrous.
“There are certain things that he does and we learn from him. You can never teach a player to pass the ball. How do you tell a player to pass the ball, that’s not a play station. The guy always makes the right decision all the time,” Komphela added.
