The ex-Baroka FC frontman Evidence Makgopa registered his third league goal. Overall, this was his fourth goal of the season across all competitions.
It goes without a doubt that Makgopa continues to shine in Pirates colours this campaign.
One can say he’s proving his doubters wrong and serving them a humble pie.
His stellar displays this term show why coach Jose Riveiro has put so much faith in the 23-year-old footballer.
Meanwhile, Sipho Sibiya scored an own goal to hand Pirates a second goal.
TSHEGOFATSO MABASA AND BONGANI SAM NOT AVAILABLE FOR SWALLOWS SELECTION
With Tshegofatso Mabasa and Bongani Sam having joined the Dube Birds from the Sea Robbers, the loan policy can’t allow them to play against their parent club.
Mabasa is one player who has been phenomenal for Swallows this term. Currently, he has scored six goals for the Steve Komphela-coached side in 13 appearances across all competitions.
SECOND SOWETO DERBY FOR ORLANDO PIRATES AND MOROKA SWALLOWS
This game marked the second Soweto Derby of the campaign for both sides.
Swallows came into this game having suffered a defeat at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs in their last derby outing.
HEAD-TO-HEAD BETWEEN ORLANDO PIRATES AND MOROKA SWALLOWS
Last season, Pirates completed a double over Maswaiswai, securing a 1-0 win at home and d 4-1 victory away from home.
Today’s win stretched Pirates’ unbeaten record in the Original Derby to eight league games. Pirates would be happy to move to position six on the log standings.
