Masibusane Zongo offers advice to Phakamani Mahlambi

Former PSL player Masibusane Zongo has offered a piece of advice to ex-Mamelodi Sundowns player Phakamani Mahlambi who continues to be unattached to any club.

Mahlambi’s last match in the DStv Premiership was in November 2021 while at Chippa United. He made only three appearances at the club.

There were reports of the former Al Ahly star joining the now-defunct Motsepe Foundation Championship side All Stars but nothing came out of it. Zongo himself has been in a similar situation as Mahlambi where clubs were reluctant to sign him due to off-field issues.

But Zongo, who has been given a lifeline after signing for Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Munaca FC, says it’s up to Mahlambi to return to football if he wants to.

WORDS OF ADVICE FOR OUT-OF-COLD PHAKAMANI MAHLAMBI

“First of all, I think it starts with you. I always preach that if you have faith and belief nothing can stop you. Regardless of what people say,” Zongo told FARPost.

“People are always going to talk, whether doing a good or bad thing they will talk. They always have something to say but if you ever know what you want in life and you have faith, nothing will stop you. That’s what pushes me every day.

“So for him [Phakamani Mahlambi] I think he needs to clear his mind. He needs to accept that it has happened, whatever that has happened in his life.”

Zongo continued: “He needs to accept and deal with it. Once he has accepted he will see a better view and better version of life rather than not accepting because once you don’t accept you will be stuck in the same place and same position. He must never listen to people because people will always talk.

“It’s always up to a person, the Mahlambi that you know if ever he believes and he is still eager and the desire. It’s up to him, if he wants to come back to football and play again. There is nothing that can stop him. But it’s all about belief and faith.”
