4 talking points as Pirates edge TS Galaxy at Orlando Stadium

In a dull DStv Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night, Orlando Pirates managed to secure a narrow 1-0 victory over TS Galaxy, marking their second win in a row.

Deon Hotto’s first-half strike was enough to hand the Soweto giants the maximum points following a set-piece.

Below are the four talking points as Pirates defeated stubborn TS Galaxy.

NO CHANGES IN THE ORLANDO PIRATES STARTING LINE-UP

Spaniard coach Jose Riveiro didn’t make any changes as he fielded the same starting line-up that defeated Moroka Swallows in a midweek game.

In that encounter, The Ghost defeated their crosstown rivals 2-0 on Tuesday in the original Soweto Derby.

ORLANDO PIRATES SUFFER AN EARLY INJURY BLOW

Orlando Pirates had to make an early change in the first half due to injury. Star player Vincent Pule sustained an injury setback in the 20th minute after he was brought down. DR Congo midfield engine Karim Kimvuidi was Pirates’ first substitute coming in for injured Pule.

Pule was unfortunate with the injury setback. He just recovered from a long-term injury that kept him on the sidelines for the larger part of last season.

MELUSI BUTHELEZI KEEPS HIS EIGHTH CLEAN SHEET FOR PIRATES

Pirates keeper Melusi Buthelezi displayed yet another superb performance between the sticks against his former employers; TS Galaxy. He managed to keep a clean sheet which was his eighth of the season in Pirates colours.

He’s giving stiff competition to Richard Ofori and Sipho Chaine who is currently sidelined with an injury setback.

ORLANDO PIRATES CLIMB TO FIFTH ON THE LOG STANDINGS

The result saw The Bucs climb up to fifth on the log standings after accumulating 22 points from 13 matches. They are two above rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
