Cavin Johnson on whether Chiefs have found winning formula
Following two DStv Premiership wins on the trot, Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has spoken on whether the club has found the winning formula.
Amakhosi beat Polokwane City 1-0 on the road at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. This was their second consecutive victory after they downed Moroka Swallows two weeks ago.
The Soweto giants had a slow start to the season under the guidance of the former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki. The poor results led to his sacking with Johnson taking over on an interim basis.
The former Platinum Stars coach admits they’re heading in the right direction, however, he insists they have a long way to go. He says he’d only say they’ve gotten it right when they have collected 15 wins.
CAVIN JOHNSON SAYS CHIEFS ARE DOING THE GREAT JOB
“I think we’re just doing a great job, we need 15 wins, then we can talk,” said Johnson in a press conference at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Meanwhile, with regards to their display, Johnson stated they need to learn to have a different approach for each team as they all have unique styles of play.
“In some moments yes, I think we’re getting there but like if it was the same win with the other game against Swallows, then we can say we’re building on the type of play we have or the type of play we want to have going forward,” he added.
“But when you have to play against a team like this, it’s a whole new perspective. We also to also go back home and say how do we play against a team that plays like this.
“This is because there could be one or two teams that play similarly, play the long ball and on the second ball. So, we need to be able to do that but we also need to make sure that we’re able to keep on stitching the Kaizer Chiefs club.”
