Stellenbosch FC and TS Galaxy face off in the Carling Knockout Cup final on Saturday and Happy Jele and Mandla Masango have made their predictions.
The match will take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 3:00 pm.
The Rockets will be looking to add a second top-flight trophy to their cabinet having won the Nedbank Cup in 2019. Meanwhile, Stellies are in their first cup final since securing promotion to the DStv Premiership in the same year.
Jele and Masango, the ambassadors of Carling, have offered their thoughts on what they foresee on Saturday.
The former Orlando Pirates captain, Jele has put his money on Steve Barker’s side to come out as victors. ‘Magents’ says he enjoys the style of play of the youthful side.
HAPPY JELE PUTS HIS MONEY ON STELLENBOSCH
“Me I go for Stellies, I stick with Stellies because I love young players, the way they have been playing this season,” said Jele.
“The previous eight or nine games I have been watching them, they were very consistent. They have got a lot of energy and a lot of runs, the combination of play with transition, I love that.
“I think they are playing good football, to see a lot of youngsters coming from DDC making it to PSL is such a great thing.”
Meanwhile, Masango believes Galaxy have an “upper hand” having experienced a cup final before. However, he also applauded the Winelands side for how they have been producing players, saying they also deserve to win.
MASANGO SAYS TS GALAXY HAVE AN “UPPER HAND”
“The way I see, TS Galaxy have a little bit of an upper hand more than Stellenbosch because they have played in the cup final before and won it,” said Masango.
“Even though they were still in the lower league but we won’t take that for granted.
“Stellenbosch also deserve to win, what I like about them is that they have many young players and that shows that they are development structure is top. They sold Mendieta and Du Preez and still managed to replace them from development.”
