‘He reminds me of prime Andile Jali’: Morgan Mammila praises midfielder

Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila has heaped praise on one of his midfielders, comparing him to prime Andile Jali.

Mammila guided the Chilli Boys to a crucial win last weekend, beating Golden Arrows 2-0. The win, their fourth of the season, saw them move from 13th place to ninth. He hopes to finish the year strong when his side faces Polokwane City [23 December] and TS Galaxy [30 December].

The Polokwane City fixture is particularly special as the Eastern Cape side plays its first game at East London’s Buffalo City Stadium after the Premier Soccer League approved the venue.

Chippa, after a nomadic existence playing home matches across the Eastern Cape landscape, are finally making a triumphant return to the city of East London. Their journey took them from the vast Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha back to the familiar confines of Siza Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane and now culminates in a homecoming to the heart of the city.

This move signifies a new chapter for the Chippa Mpengesi-owned side that promises a deeper connection to their loyal fans and a renewed sense of belonging in the community.

WHICH CHIPPA UNITED MIDFIELDER REMINDS MORGAN MAMMILA OF PRIME ANDILE JALI

Mammila has singled out Tanzanian midfielder Baraka Majogoro as the man who reminds him of Jali alongside Oupa Manyisa at Orlando Pirates.

The 26-year-old defensive midfielder has been one of Chippa’s standout performers this season, and Mammila has been impressed by his all-round ability.

“He has to go, we have to cash in [on Majogoro],” Mammila told FARPost. “He’s a complete player. If you know Vieira, you’ve got Vieira in Majogoro. Top player, disciplined, and knows what to do with the ball. Keeps it simple. He reminds me of Manyisa and Jali when they were at their peak.”

Majogoro is a product of the Mtibwa Sugar, based in Turiani – some 150 KM northeast of Dar es Salaam. He joined Chippa United during the pre-season and has quickly become a key player for the club.

He’s known for his passing ability, vision, and work rate. He is also a strong tackler and a good reader of the game. His coach believes it is only a matter of time before he makes a big move.

In fact, Mammila is so convinced Chippa will cash in on the East African come the end of the season. He looks set to be part of Tanzania’s national team when they participate in the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast next month.
